COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa (AP) — Police say a 9-year-old Council Bluffs boy suffered only scrapes and bruises when he was hit by a driver who left the scene.
The Council Bluffs Nonpareil reports that the boy was walking with his brother and parents on the way to basketball practice when he was hit by a turning sport utility vehicle.
Police say after hitting the boy, the driver stopped briefly before pulling away, telling a witness he "had to go get his mom and dad."
