DES MOINES, Iowa Des Moines police said an officer has been fired after they said he kicked a man in the head, knocking out some of his front teeth.
Police spokesman Sgt. Jason Halifax said Collin Boone was fired last Wednesday.
Police said Orville Hill, 28, was involved in a crash at Indianola and Hartford avenues on Feb. 19. Hill was not cooperating with police and during the process of being taking into custody; Halifax said Boone kicked Hill in the head.
Hill lost several of his front teeth.
On April 25, Hill was again arrested in a case not connected to the car crash on Feb. 19. His mug shot, shown above, shows his front teeth missing.
Hill was charged in a theft case at a home in the 6900 block of Southeast 14th St.
The resident reported her TV, iPod and several checkbooks were taken during the break-in. She told police that a friend had called her earlier in the day to ask if she was going to be home by 4 p.m. The resident had told the friend, Austin Kimmel, no.
The theft was discovered about 5 p.m.
A police report on the case shows officers went to Kimmel's uncle's home, obtained permission to search the residence and found the TV and iPod inside the home.
According the police report, the uncle, Orville Hill, told officers "Austin brought the property home and made me hide it."
Police arrested both Kimmel and Hill. They were charged with third-degree burglary in the case.
Hill was taken to the Polk County Jail. Kimmel was taken to a juvenile detention center.
