By Ben Hoppenworth

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - Police have made an arrest in connection with the daytime stabbing of a man in downtown Des Moines.

The Des Moines Police Department announced Friday that 67-year-old George Woods II was taken to the Polk County Jail following an interview at the station. He's been charged with willful injury causing serious injury and assault with a dangerous weapon.

Timothy Pridgen told authorities he was stabbed in the torso Tuesday morning after an altercation. He was taken to Iowa Methodist Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police say the stabbing was not a random act, but didn't elaborate. Police added that neither Pridgen nor Woods have gang affiliations.

Court records do not list an attorney for Woods.
