IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Police have arrested a man accused of threatening people with a gun in July.

According to Iowa City police criminal complaints, around 2:35 a.m. July 7, the alleged victims told police they were outside in the 2100 block of Davis Street when a gray van with no headlights drove past. The victims told police the van drove on the grass, turned around and headed back toward the group of people.

Police said as the van drove by, the driver pointed a gun at the group.
Three minutes later, an officer tried to pull over a van with a description similar to the one seen on Davis Street. Police said the drive abandoned the van in the 1900 block of Broadway Street and ran from the officer, hopping over two fences in the process. The driver, believed to be 22-year-old Torian T. Cleggette, was later found in the attic of 2017 Taylor Drive. Police said Cleggette's blood was found in the van, on the two fences and in another car.

Police said the van Cleggette was driving was stolen.

Cleggette has been arrested and faces charges of second-degree theft and assault while displaying a weapon.
