CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Police have confirmed Melinda Rhoads, 56, of Cedar Rapids has been found.
In a press release, they said she was located in Johnson County just before 8 pm Thursday evening. They said she is not physically injured, but will be receiving medical attention.
Melinda left her work at Mercy Medical Center early Wednesday morning, telling coworkers she didn't feel well. She headed home and changed clothes. Sometime before noon, a neighbor spotted her leaving in a 2005 silver/green Chrysler.
Family said she left with only a half tank of gas, and no purse, money, or cell phone.
"Nothing like this has ever happened. It's completely out of her character," said Melinda's husband, Bill Rhoads.
Bill said he couldn't think of reason why his wife would leave. Melinda's family told us Thursday afternoon they hoped she returned unharmed.
"We're all in shock. We're just hoping for her to walk through that door," said Melinda's cousin, Jane Sallee.
"Whatever the issue is, you know, we're here to help her. We just want her back," said brother, Alex Taylor.
