Police Investigate Report of Attempted Child Abduction

FAIRFAX, Iowa - Officials are investigating an attempted child abduction Tuesday afternoon.

Authorities received a complaint of an attempted child abduction around 4:14 p.m. near Second Street and Horizon Avenue. Two girls, ages 10 and 12, reported a male and a female driving a dark blue Mazda four-door sedan attempted to lure them into their vehicle.

The female was reported driving the vehicle, and is described as having shoulder length grey hair that was curly at the ends, authorities said. The male passenger is described as having short grey hair and a pointed goatee; he was last seen wearing a tan coat, plaid shirt and appeared to have a thin build.

Officials believe the vehicle may have been a Mazda Protégé.

Authorities believe this to be an isolated incident, and are investigating. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Linn County Sheriff's Office at (319) 398-3911.
