Police Find Drugs On Cedar Rapids Man After Walmart Theft

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- Police said they found a variety of drugs on a Cedar Rapids man after arresting him for stealing a cellphone case.

Cedar Rapids police officers arrested 32-year-old Derek I. Collier at 3:20 a.m. Sunday for stealing a cellphone case from Walmart, 3601 29th Ave. SW. Police said when they searched Collier, they found cocaine, marijuana, prescription drugs and a scale on him. Collier did not have a valid prescription for the drugs, police said.

Collier was arrested and has been charged with possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana, unlawful possession of a prescription drug, possession of drug paraphernalia and fifth-degree theft.
