WAVERLY, Iowa - Waverly Police are confirming the sighting of a bobcat within the city limits, but said there's no reason to panic.

Officers said bobcats are fairly common in this part of Iowa. They said they're not considered a threat to human safety unless they have rabies or become extremely aggressive.

Police said it's okay to watch a bobcat if you see one, just don't get too close. If any wild animal is of concern to you the best course of action is to leave the area and contact your local police or the Iowa DNR.
