DUBUQUE, Iowa -- The city of Dubuque is moving forward with plans to create a new four lane, six mile-long Southwest Arterial.

The divided highway would act as a bypass for the city. It would connect U.S. Highway 20 with U.S. Highways 61 and 151, and would eventually relieve traffic congestion downtown.

The city held a public information session about the project at the Dubuque County Firefighters Association Training Center Wednesday night.
