Picnics Honor Iowa Workers this Labor Day
Several area organizations are honoring Iowa's working men and women with special Labor Day Picnics.
In Cedar Falls, the Black Hawk Union Council and Local Unions is holding its annual picnic at the shelter at Gateway Park in Cedar Falls. The meal runs from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. Monday and will include workers, their families, and several labor and community leaders.
The Hawkeye Labor Council, AFL-CIO will honor workers with an annual Labor Day Picnic Monday. Members will gather for food and fun at Hawkeye Downs in Cedar Rapids. Food will be served from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. The picnic is for workers and their families, as well as several labor and Cedar Rapids area community leaders.
Finally, the Iowa City Federation of Labor is holding its annual picnic Monday from noon until four. The event is open to the public and includes food and family fun. The picnic honors workers in both the public and private sector in Johnson county and will be held at Upper City Park Shelter #2 in Iowa City.
