DUBUQUE, Iowa –- A pedestrian overpass is coming for Heritage Trail bikers and walkers to cross above highway 52.
The Dubuque County Conservation Board awarded more than one and a half million dollars to Jim Schroeder Construction, Inc. in construction of a new pedestrian overpass for Heritage Trail.
The overpass will complete the heritage trail puzzle by connecting the downtown segment of the trail to the Dubuque County portion.
“This is an off road trail, we have a lot of kids that bike with their parents, they get out ahead of their parents, and as a parent myself, it’s the safest alternative to cross highway 52. ” Said Brian Preston, Director of Dubuque County Conservation Board.
The Dubuque County Conservation Board hopes to begin construction on the pedestrian overpass in the next couple of months.
