COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa (AP) - The Iowa State Patrol says part of Interstate 29/80 in Council Bluffs has collapsed and lanes are blocked.

The state Department of Transportation posted a message on its website just before 9 p.m. Wednesday saying lanes were blocked between Exit 1A and Exit 4.

Omaha TV station WOWT has a crew at the scene and described the collapse as "a large hole" in the pavement. The station says construction work was in progress near the site of the collapse.

The Omaha World-Herald reports police were working to turn around trucks and other vehicles near the collapse.
