DES MOINES, Iowa — The pastor of a Des Moines church that was damaged by fire last week says his dog has been found alive in the building.

The Rev. David Reasby said arson investigators had just finished walking through the Lighthouse Full Gospel Baptist Church on Monday when his Chihuahua Lil Bit followed them out of the building.

Reasby said she was hungry and dirty but she survived. Reasby said Lil Bit has been part of his family for 10 years.

The fire broke out last Friday afternoon. Police later charged 56-year-old James Galbo with first-degree arson.
