Passenger Arrested with Drug Possession After Taxi Pulled Over

IOWA CITY, Iowa - An Iowa City woman is in custody in connection to drug possession after a taxi she was riding in was pulled over for a traffic violation.

According to criminal complaints, police stopped a taxi for a traffic violation at 10:10 p.m. Wednesday. Police said a drug detection dog alerted to the presence of the odor of narcotics coming from the vehicle.

The passenger, Chonghui D. Hannah, 23, was searched and was found to be in possession of 4.8 grams of crack/cocaine, police said. Officers said Hannah attempted to dispose of the drugs while an officer was searching her.

Hannah was charged with possession of a controlled substance and obstructing prosecution, both misdemeanors. She is being held in Johnson County Jail on a $7,500 cash only bond.
