FOREST CITY, Iowa (AP) — Thorpe Park west of Forest City in northern Iowa will be closed to traffic during the upcoming shotgun deer seasons.

The Mason City Globe Gazette says the seasons will run Saturday through Wednesday and Dec. 14-22.

The Winnebago County Conservation Board says the park office and the shop building will be reachable during both seasons.

The Kids' Scavenger Hunt, originally scheduled to be held at the park shelter house, will be held at the park office at 3 p.m. on Sunday.

Shotgun deer hunting is not allowed in the park, but the Thorpe Recreation Area to the southeast and the Russ Wildlife Area to the west are open to hunting.
