Parents Seethe Over Iowa Man's Suspended Sentence

  • Photo
DAVENPORT, Iowa (AP) - The suspended sentence of a man convicted of running a meth lab at a home child day care has some parents upset.

Dale Blumer recently pleaded guilty to manufacturing meth, child endangerment and other charges and received a suspended 25-year sentence.

Fawn Waack tells the Quad-City Times that Blumer's suspended sentence has her seething. She says her 4-year-old son, who attended the day care when police discovered the meth lab in late December, tested positive for high amounts of meth. She says Blumer should be in prison.

Blumer's live-in girlfriend at the time of his arrest and the day care's operator, 34-year-old Amanda Taylor, is set to be sentenced Thursday on similar charges. Waack says she'll be at Taylor's sentencing, and has already written her victim-impact statement.
