Ottumwa Police Arrest 2 for False Reports

  • Photo
OTTUMWA, Iowa (AP) - Ottumwa police say two people have been arrested for falsely accusing officers of stealing a motorcycle from their home garage.

The Ottumwa Police Department says 27-year-old Marquise LaMar Benson and 38-year-old Tonya Donlynn Bosley were arrested Thursday. They have been charged with two counts of false reports.

Police say Benson and Bosley reported last summer that two Ottumwa officers on duty broke into a garage at their residence and stole a motorcycle. They also accused the officers of causing damage to their residence.

Police determined a burglary never took place, since an incident involving the officers was captured entirely on video from patrol vehicles.

Benson and Bosley are being held in the Wapello County Jail. Court records do not list attorneys.
