One Person Killed in Overnight House Fire

DES MOINES, Iowa - Des Moines officials are investigating a fatal fire early Wednesday morning.

Firefighters confirmed an elderly woman has died after her home at 4125 3rd Street caught fire overnight.

Fire officials said the fire started around 2:30 a.m. in the living room.

When KCCI crews arrived at the home at 3 a.m., there was no visible smoke or damage to the outside of the home.

Firefighters told KCCI News that by the time they got to the scene, most of the fire was out.

Officials said the exact cause of the fire and the woman's death are still under investigation, and no one else was inside the home.
