DEWITTE, Iowa - A North Liberty man is dead after he lost control of his vehicle, hit a car, and rolled into the median while driving along Highway 30 just east of DeWitt just before 9 p.m. on Wednesday.

A report from the Iowa State Patrol said 48-year-old Michael Walton was driving his 2011 Nissan westbound near the 314 mile marker when he lost control of the car and hit another vehicle driving westbound. After striking the car -- which was driven by 50-year-old James Reafsnider of Goose Lake -- Walton's car entered the median and rolled several times across the eastbound lanes until it landed in a ditch on the south end of the road.

Walton was pronounced dead at the scene, and the accident remains under investigation. The report said he was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident.
