CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - One person is dead following a motorcycle accident in Cedar Falls.

The accident happened around five o'clock Friday afternoon in the 9000 block of University Avenue. Police say a motorcycle driven by Kyle Matthew Welch, 23, of Cedar Falls, struck a utility pole near the intersection of University Avenue and Hudson Road. Welch was pronounced dead at the scene.

The roadway was closed for several hours and reopened to traffic Friday night.
