One Person Injured in Cedar Rapids House Fire
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - A fire on the northwest side of Cedar Rapids injured one person Wednesday morning. The Cedar Rapids Fire Department was called to 264 Boice Road NW at 10:33 a.m. Wednesday.
All four people at the one-story home were able to get out. Firefighters and paramedics initially treated Kenlyn Hecht, 51, outside of the home. She was taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation. Judith Rehbehen, 72, and two children were also in the home when the fire started.
The Cedar Rapids Fire Department said the fire started in a front bedroom and was confined to that room. They were able to quickly extinguish the fire. In addition to fire damage in the area of the bedroom, there was smoke damage to the entire structure.
The American Red Cross is assisting. The cause of the fire is being investigated.
