One Person Hospitalized After Iowa City Fire

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Fire crews and police are on the scene of a fire in Iowa City. The fire started around 11 a.m. Thursday at a home along Carroll Street near the southeast side of town.

"It's a garage fire and one person was taken to the hospital," Sgt. Denise Brotherton said. "That's all I can tell you right now."

There is a large police presence on the scene blocking the street from both ends. Four fire trucks and two ambulances are also on scene.

As of 11:40 a.m. Thursday, the fire continued to burn slowly on the south end of the home.
