One Female Dead After Wreck an Hour North of Dubuque

STITZER, Wisconsin - One female has died after a wreck about an hour north of Dubuque Wednesday afternoon, authorities said.
The Grant County Sheriff's department received a report of a one-vehicle crash with entrapment on Liberty Ridge Road in Liberty Township just south of Stitzer in Wisconsin around 4:42 p.m. A 15-year-old Lancaster female died as a result of her injuries, officials said. The driver of the vehicle, a 16-year-old female from Lancaster remains in University of Wisconsin Hospitals and Clinics in stable condition, a news release said.
The other passengers, a 14-year-old female, a 15-year-old male and a 17-year-old female all of Lancaster are in stable or critical but stable condition, officials said.
According to officials, the preliminary investigation shows that speed is a contributing factor, but alcohol does not appear to be involved. The deceased victim was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, but it is unknown whether the driver and other passengers were wearing a seat belt. All surviving victims were transported to Grant Regional Health Center and then air lifted by either Med Flight or Med Link to UW Hospitals and Clinics.
According to the Grant County Sheriff's department, the stretch of road the wreck occurred is a black top road, but hilly in nature. The speed limit is 55 mph.
The accident remains under investigation.
