GILBERTVILLE, Iowa – A man died in a rollover crash early Friday morning along Highway 20, authorities said.

Deputies responded around 2:45 a.m. to the single-vehicle crash at mile marker 241 near Gilbertville. Witnesses said an eastbound vehicle drifted onto the shoulder and the driver over-corrected, causing it to roll several times.

The driver, 40-year-old Jonas Gallardo-Parra, of Hiawatha, suffered severe head injuries, authorities said. He was transported to Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo, where he was pronounced dead.

No other passengers were inside the vehicle at the time of the crash. An investigation was continuing.
