Officials Investigate Hunter's Injury After Gun Explodes
DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Officials say they're investigating why a muzzleloader exploded while being used by a hunter in central Iowa.
The state Department of Natural Resources say Theodore Larsen's thumb was severed by the blast Wednesday afternoon near Truro. His thumb has not been found.
The Cumming man was hunting from an elevated stand when the muzzleloader exploded in his hands as he fired at a deer.
Larsen was airlifted to Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
