CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Officials are investigating the second armed robbery in as many weeks at the Casey’s General Store on 41st Avenue Drive SW.
Cedar Rapids police Sgt. Jeremy Paulsen said officials are investigating a report that one black male entered the Casey’s, 130 41st Ave. Drive SW and stole an undisclosed amount of cash. He allegedly displayed a handgun. Officials said he was wearing a red baseball hat, a red long sleeve shirt, jeans, and covered his face with a white cloth.
Paulsen said the robbery is possibly connected to the one at the same location last week, when two armed robbers stole an undisclosed amount of cash.
Officers brought a canine to the scene to search for the suspect, who witnesses said fled eastbound from the store. As of just before 11 p.m. on Tuesday, authorities had nobody in custody.
Casey’s employees have requested extra patrol at the store and Paulsen said officials always give extra attention to cases like this one.
