OELWEIN, Iowa - An Oelwein woman involved in a shooting last month has been released from the hospital.

Authorities said Myron Meador, 44, shot at his wife Niki Meador, 38, multiple times on October 15 before turning the gun on himself. Myron Meador died at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics a day later.

The shooting happened at the couple's home in the 100 block of 10th Avenue NW in Oelwein just before 7 a.m. When officers arrived, they said there was active gunfire inside the home. Officers said Myron Meador left his home shortly after the shooting but was later detained and taken to an Oelwein hospital where he died. They found Niki Meador in the couple's home. She was transported by air to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

Now, over a month later, family said Niki Meador is home and was able to celebrate Thanksgiving with relatives.
