WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama has signed a disaster declaration allowing for the release of federal money to help Iowa recover from last month's severe storms and flooding.

The declaration applies to Dubuque and Jackson counties. The federal money would supplement state and local money for the recovery efforts.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency also has named Michael R. Scott as the federal coordinating officer for the area. FEMA says more money could be provided in the future based on further damage assessments.
