North Liberty Firefighters Battle Two Fires Within 24 Hours

NORTH LIBERTY, Iowa – The North Liberty Fire Department responded to two separate structure fires within 24 hours over the weekend. The first fire happened on Friday night at 7:39 p.m. on Forest Hill Place N.E.

Officials say a lightning strike is the cause of the fire. When crews arrived they say flames coming from the roof of the two story home.

Three firefighters were injured and taken to the hospital for minor injuries. No one was inside the home at the time of the fire. The home suffered smoke and fire damage.

On Saturday on the 2600 block of Woodfield Lane N.E. firefighters were sent to stop a fire at 10:29 a.m. When crews arrived they saw heavy smoke and fire in a detached garage. The garage is considered a total loss.

The cause of the fire was ruled as accidental. People were home at the time of the fire but, no injuries were reported.
