North Liberty Family Displaced by Early Morning Fire

NORTH LIBERTY, Iowa -- A North Liberty family has requested assistance from the Red Cross after a structure fire displaced them early Monday morning.
A release from the North Liberty Fire Department said the department was dispatched to a home at the400 block of Sugar Creek Ln. at 6:07 a.m.
First responders reported smoke showing from the roof of the house, and the fire -- which was contained to the attic -- was extinguished 72 minutes after the fire department arrived, the release said.
Though the building was occupied at the time, there were no reported injuries.
An estimate of property damage was not yet available Monday morning and the cause of the fire remains under investigation, the release said.
The North Liberty Fire Department was assisted by the Coralville, Solon, and Tiffin Fire Departments, as well as the Johnson County Ambulance Service, the Johnson County Sheriff's Department, Alliant Energy and MidAmerican Energy.
