NORTHWOOD, Iowa (AP) - A 21-year-old North Carolina man has been given six months in jail for helping sexually abuse a friend's wife.
Zachary Patterson, of Mooresville, N.C., also was fined $625 on Monday.
Patterson had pleaded guilty in Worth County District Court to assault with intent to commit sexual abuse, a misdemeanor. He'd originally been charged with felony sexual abuse.
He's one of three men convicted in the assault of Brigett Wirtjes at her Manley home on Dec. 5, 2010. She was found dead the next day. The cause of death was undetermined.
Her husband, Tyler Wirtjes, is one of the three and he's been given 20 years in prison. The third man is Jason Walker, of Manley, who's been sentenced to 10 years.
