AMES, Iowa (AP) — Police in Ames say there weren't any major disturbances reported during last weekend's annual Veishea festival at Iowa State.

The yearly spring event typically attracts large numbers of visitors and is, for many, an occasion for drinking.

Poor weather may have played a role in the lack of trouble. Many official events were moved or canceled because of cold, wet and blustery weather.

Veishea was canceled in 2005 after police were forced to respond to a riot the previous year. The event resumed in 2006.

The Des Moines Register reports that police say arrest statistics should be available later Monday.
