New Arrest in Roundtree Homicide Case

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Police have now made the fifth arrest in the death of Latasha Roundtree. 17-year-old Yasin Muhidin was arrested in Rochester, MN last Thursday on warrants in an unrelated case.

In the death of Roundtree, Muhidin is accused of murder in the first degree, intimidation with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy to commit a forcible felony and trafficking in stolen weapons. He appeared in court over the weekend and sits in the Linn County Jail on 100-thousand dollars bond.

Roundtree was shot on September 22, 2012 in the 600 block of 16th Avenue SW. She later died at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics from her injuries.

Police have charged four others in the case:

Tajh M. Ross, 18, of unknown address, is charged with first-degree murder, intimidation with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy to commit a forcible felony and going armed with intent, according to a criminal complaint. A $1 million cash only bond was set.

Adrian M. Kenney, 22, of Cedar Rapids, is charged with intimidation with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy to commit a forcible felony, trafficking in stolen weapons, perjury and accessory after the fact, according to a criminal complaint. A $100,000 cash or surety bond was set.

Liban Muhidin, 20, of Cedar Rapids, is charged with conspiracy to commit a forcible felony, perjury and accessory after the fact, according to a criminal complaint. Muhidin also had a $100,000 cash or surety bond.

Jeremiah Ellis, 18, is charged with first-degree murder, intimidation with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy to commit a forcible felony and going armed with intent.

Ross and Ellis are accused of firing weapons into a car in which Roundtree was a passenger that night, according to a criminal complaint. There was others in the car with Roundtree but the complaint doesn't identify them.

Kenney and Muhidin are accused of being involved in the planning of the crime, supplying stolen firearms for the crime, disposing of evidence, helping others flee from the scene and providing false information to the Linn County Attorney's Office during depositions in December 2012 and January 2013.
