DUBUQUE, Iowa — It will soon be a little easier for bus riders to get around in Dubuque thanks to some new technology.
Riders of Dubuque’s “The Jule” bus system will be able to text a number to find the location of the nearest bus, as well as arrival and departure times. The equipment also will let people check out bus schedules while at home. Riders can also set alarms to alert them when a bus is close, or even running late.
“It’s really going to make it a lot easier for people to figure out where the buses are and where they need to be in order to get the buses,” said Director of Transit Operations Barbara Morck.
Dubuque will install the technology in city buses in stages, hoping to complete it by next spring. A “State of Good Repair” grant is paying for software.
