DUBUQUE, Iowa - After seven years of planning, and more than $5 Million in fund-raising the Dubuque Regional Humane Society is opening its new animal shelter.
Directors have long said the old shelter, located behind Hobby Lobby, was over-crowded and outdated. Crews spent the past year renovating the old Carlisle-Ryan Publishing office building on Chavenelle Road.
Earlier this week employees moved all 200 pets from the old location to the new shelter. Directors are holding a ribbon "chewing" on Thursday, starting at 4:30 pm.
