A northeast Iowa pastor accused of fondling a young girl faces more charges after he tried to contact the victim from jail, authorities said.

Timothy E. Parker, 40, of Westgate, on Wednesday had his bond raised from $40,000 to $50,000 after he was charged with four counts of violating a no contact order.

Fayette County Sheriff Marty Fisher said Parker tried to contact the victim and family members by giving letters to a visitor.

“Another pastor was to meet with him for counseling, and that’s how the letters got out,” Fisher said.

Parker was already charged with third-degree sexual abuse and two counts of lascivious acts with a child. Authorities allege that Parker performed oral sex on a 12-year-old girl at the church parsonage in June 2009.

According to court documents, Parker also admitted to undressing and fondling the girl on another occasion.

Parker was the pastor for St. Peter Lutheran Church in Westgate when the charges were filed in August.
