IOWA CITY, Iowa - New video from the Johnson County Sheriff's Office shows a near disaster caught on camera when an airborne pick-up truck nearly takes out two sheriff's deputies and a state trooper.

The crash was caught on camera by a Johnson County Sheriff's squad car camera. It happened last Friday along Interstate 80 near Oxford.

A Freightliner semi driven by Michael John Smith, 49, of Arlington, allegedly failed to slow for the crash scene and ran into the back of a Ford F-150 pickup driven by Dana Scott Miller, 45, of Eldridge, according to the Iowa State Patrol.

The impact pushed the pickup across lanes of traffic where it hit the trooper's Dodge Charger squad car, according to the State Patrol.

Johnson County Sheriff Lonny Pulkrabek said the video is a prime example of why drivers need to slow down when approaching accident scenes. Both Deputies who were at the scene at the time of the crash say it's amazing no one was seriously hurt.
