Narcisse Loses Appeal to Get on Primary Ballot for Governor
DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - A former Des Moines school board member has lost another round in his fight to gain a spot on the Democratic primary ballot for governor.
The Des Moines Register says Jonathan Narcisse had asked a Polk County District Court judge to overturn a ruling by the Iowa secretary of state's office that his nomination petitions were incomplete. The office ruled earlier this month that some of Narcisse's petitions didn't note the title of the office sought, disqualifying him from being placed on primary ballots. The decision left state Sen. Jack Hatch as the only Democrat running for governor.
On Thursday Judge Michael Huppert upheld the secretary of state's office. Narcisse has already filed an appeal of Huppert's ruling.
