IOWA CITY, Iowa - Hundreds of Hawkeye fans have already claimed tickets to the University of Iowa’s upcoming home NIT men’s basketball game. The Hawkeyes are set to host Indiana State at Carver-Hawkeye Arena Wednesday night. Monday afternoon tickets went on sale to the general public, which attracted hundreds of fans.
“Looking past the disappointment of the weekend, [fans] know how important of a role they play,” said Rick Klatt, associate athletics director. Some fans were optimistic that Iowa would get a bid to play in the NCAA tournament, but their name was not called Sunday night.
Tickets are $15 a piece for adults, which should help fill the arena, Klatt said.
“I had nothing better to do today actually,” said Steven Spurrell, a Hawkeye fan who waited in line for 45 minutes Monday. “I think there is an upside to this tournament.”
