Murder Trial Postponed for Waterloo Man

WATERLOO, Iowa --- Trial has been postponed for a Waterloo man accused of shooting his fiancee and killing her mother in May.

Kevin Ambrose, 33, was scheduled in court Tuesday to face charges of murder and attempted murder but the date was pushed back during a conference Friday.

The new trial date is Aug. 21.

According to authorities, Ambrose's fiancee, Marlene Buss, had filed a protective order against him May 2. He later showed up at their home on Newell Street with a handgun, according to police.

Ambrose attempted to shoot Undray Reed, but the gun misfired. He then chased Buss, shot her three times and then shot and killed Buss' mother, Kay Straw, 59.
