Mural Depicts 100 Years of North Liberty

NORTH LIBERTY, Iowa - How do you plan to celebrate turning 100?

North Liberty has been marking this milestone all month.

The celebrations continued Saturday with a gathering at the North Liberty Community Library.

Activities for the kids who are far from turning 100 -- also followed by a time capsule ceremony and, then, the unveiling of a mural.

Half of the mural depicts life in 1913 - the other half is 2013 to mark 100 years of North Liberty.

"Its an opportunity that doesn't come around very often. Were one of teh youngest communities in the state so its a neat opportunity to be able to highlight where we are and where weve come from and where were going," said Tracey Mulcahey, assistant city administrator.

The mural is titled Sugar Bottom Celebration and is hanging in the library.
