Mt. Mercy Senior Killed in Boating Crash Remembered

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - On Sunday, a memorial prayer service was held for a 21-year-old Mount Mercy senior, killed late last month. Haley Rinaldi died in a boating crash on July 26th in Colorado, where she was from. Rinaldi was being pulled behind a boat on a tube when the tow rope snapped at the metal connector struck her in the head.

Rinaldi transferred to Mount.Mercy in 2012 from Waldorf. She majored in Biology and played for the women's soccer team.Haley's teammates, classmates, friends, and teachers gathered in the Chapel of Mercy to honor and remember her.

White Star Ale House co-workers are holding a fundraiser for Rinaldi's family. All the tips at the 2nd Avenue establishment from 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. Monday night will go to the family.
