Less than two weeks after Superintendent Pam Ewell announced her resignation, the Mount Vernon school board is beginning down the path to replace its head administrator.

During a special meeting on April 29, board members approved hiring G. Tryon and Associates to help the district conduct its superintendent search.

The board will meet again at 5 p.m. Thursday, May 2 to discuss previously undecided details about the hiring process, such as a timeline. At this time, the board has not discussed nor appointed an interim superintendent. Ewell, who resigned among rumors that board members would opt not to renew her contract, has said that she plans to serve in her current post until her employment agreement concludes on Sunday, June 30.
