Missing Dog Found 10 Feet Up in Tree

By Larry Burkum

DAVENPORT, Iowa (AP) - A 7-year-old border collie named Laddy that had been missing for two days was found two blocks away from its Davenport home, stuck up a tree.

Ron Stevenson told the Quad-City Times that he was working in his yard Sunday morning when he heard a dog whining. He followed the sound along his driveway and looked up to see a dog at least 10 feet up in the tree.

A police officer who responded to Stevenson's 911 call arrived after Stevenson got down from the tree with the dog. The officer had seen fliers and knew where the dog lived. Laddy soon was reunited his owner, Cynthia Weeks. She says Laddy probably was chasing a squirrel when he raced up the tree.
