MASON CITY, Iowa (AP) — An April trial has been scheduled for a Mason City man accused of child endangerment that resulted in the death of a toddler.
The Mason City Globe Gazette reports that 29-year-old Kenneth Adams has pleaded not guilty. His trial is scheduled to begin on April 2.
Officers were sent to a Mason City home on Oct. 27 to check on an unresponsive child. Police say the infant was taken to Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa, where he died. The State Medical Examiner's Office ruled the death a homicide.
Police have not released the child's name, but the newspaper cited an obituary that said 19-month-old Owen James Adams died Oct. 27 at Mercy. His father was listed as Kenneth Adams, of Mason City.
