Marble Rock Man Accused of Making Threats to Shoot Officer

  • Photo
CHARLES CITY, Iowa (AP) A 32-year-old Marble Rock man remains in Floyd County Jail, accused of making threatening 911 calls about shooting a police officer.

Authorities say John Marzen had a loaded handgun and shotgun in his vehicle when he was arrested shortly after being spotted at a convenience store on Saturday morning in Marble Rock.

Authorities say they traced cellphone calls made to dispatch centers in Cerro Gordo, Floyd and Franklin counties earlier that morning. A news release from the Floyd County Sheriff's Office says the caller said "a cop is going to get shot west of Marble Rock."

Online court records don't list the name of Marzen's attorney in the case.
