CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- Police tasered , then arrested a man after he led officers on a chase through Cedar Rapids Thursday morning.
Kenneth Terry, 24, of Cedar Rapids, is facing several driving violations, as well as charges of eluding and interference with police. Officers booked him in the Linn County Jail on Thursday.
At about 10 a.m. police tried to pull Terry over for making an illegal turn onto 18th St. SE from Fifth Ave SE. When police turned on their lights, Terry sped off, blowing two stop signs along Bever Ave., then accelerated, reaching speeds up to 60 mph in a 30 mph zone. The chase ended in a parking lot in the 1500 block of First Ave SE. There, Terry jumped from the car and took off running. Police say that's when they deployed the taser. His car on the other hand didn't stop, it crossed Second Ave. SE, jumped a curb and hit a tree.
Terry received medial treatment from a local hospital, he's since been released.
