IOWA FALLS, Iowa A man has been shot and killed by law enforcement officers during a standoff in Iowa Falls Thursday.

Iowa State Patrol spokesman Sgt. Scott Bright said the man was held up in his home and Iowa Falls police were trying to talk him out. The home is just west of the downtown area near the intersection of Estes and College streets.

A State Patrol tactical team was called to the scene after about an hour.

Bright said the man was suicidal and made threats on Facebook during the standoff.

The man eventually came outside and was yelling at the officers from the front porch. Bright said the man pulled a weapon from his pants and pointed it at officers. He was shot and killed by law enforcement officers, Bright said.

Complete details about the shooting and the man's name are not yet available.
