AMES, Iowa —An Ames man has pleaded guilty to prostitution charges following a law enforcement sting operation last year.

The Ames Tribune newspaper reported that William Woodruff, 48, of Ames, was charged with prostitution in a Polk County case and pleaded guilty to the charge on Monday.

The charges were part of a sting operation in several locations in Polk County last October when 53 people were arrested and charged in the case. The effort involved local, state and federal officers.

The Tribune reported that court records show Woodruff pleaded guilty Monday and received a deferred judgment, one year of probation and $625 fine.
