STORM LAKE, Iowa (AP) — A 19-year-old man walking on a track in northwest Iowa has been struck by a train.

Police say Deon Parkhurst, 19, was heading west when he was hit from behind by a Canadian National locomotive around 4 p.m. Wednesday in Storm Lake.

Parkhurst was taken to Buena Vista Regional Medical in Storm Lake and then flown to Mercy Medical Center-Sioux City.

A hospital spokeswoman said Thursday that Parkhurst remained in critical condition.
